Sandeep Lamichhane was born on August 2, 2000, in Armchair, Syanga, Nepal. His father’s name is Chandra Narayan Lamichhane and his mother’s name is Kopila Devi Lamichhane. Nepali is his ethnicity. His ethnicity is southern Asian. He belongs to the faith of Hindu. He also has two brothers named Mohan Lamichhane (Brother) and InduLamichhaneNeupane (Sister). He grew up playing cricket in his hometown and like his inspiration, he idolizes Indian legend cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Australian Shane Warne.

Career of Sandeep Lamichhane

Sandeep Lamichane began playing cricket at the Chitwan Cricket Academy At the age of 14, the Nepali Captain Paras Khadka and former Nepal Cricket Team coach PubuduDassanayake found him and picked him up for the youth camp.

He made his List A debut in the 2015-17 ICC World Cricket League Championship against Namibia in April 2016. In the second match of the 2016 U19 Cricket World Cup, he became the 5th bowler in the history of the U-19 World Cup to take a hat-trick with the wickets of Lorcan Tucker, Adam Dennison, and Flachra Tucker of Ireland.

In September 2016, Australian captain Michael Clarke provided Lamichhane to join the Western Suburbs Districts Cricket Club based in Sydney. Sandeep Lamichhane was named in the 2018 IPL in the list of players for auction in January 2018.

He entered Indian Premier League club side Delhi Daredevils, agreed to an agreement of 20 lakhs and became the first Nepali cricketer ever to play in the IPL. He finished his IPL season with 5 scores for 82 runs in 12 overs playing 3 games. He was drafted by St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in March 2018 to play for $5k in the Caribbean Premier League.

He was chosen by Canadian club Montreal Tigers to play in the inaugural edition of the Global T20 Canada tournament in June 2018. Afghani club Nangarhar signed him to play in their first edition of the Afghanistan Premier League in September 2018.

Australian club Melbourne Stars signed him for the BBL (Big Bash League) in October 2018 making him the first Nepali professional to sign for an Australian club. He was also drafted for the 2018-19 Bangladesh Premier League by SylhetSixers in October 2018.

International Career of Sandeep Lamichhane

Sandeep Lamichhane was appointed the tournament’s ICC World Cricket League Division Two Player, where he took a total of 17 wickets in six matches. ICC named Lamichhane as one of the ten players to watch the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier followed by a growing star at the end of the tournament. He made his T20I debut against the West Indies for the ICC Rest of the World XI team.

Nepal attained ODI status during the February 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. Lamichhane made his ODI debut for Nepal in their first ever ODI match against the Netherlands in July 2018. In the 2018-19 ICC World Twenty20 Asia Qualifier tournament, Lamichhane took 24 wickets in six games.
